A week in France

Hola hermosas criaturas. La vida está llena de sucesos por estos lados últimamente. Pasé la semana pasada en Francia, dándome sobredosis de quesos y tartas de frutas, visitando algunos museos y exposiciones (mi favorita la de Tim Burton en la Cinémathèque Française) perdiéndome por las callecitas París... 

 Hello beautiful creatures. Life is full of events on this side lately. I spent last week in France, giving myself overdoses of cheese and fruit tarts, visiting some museums and expositions (my fav was Tim Burton's at the Cinémathèque Française) and getting lost in the streets of Paris...

Volví a Londres y el verano me estaba esperando. Inauguramos una nueva temporada de la máquina de hacer helados con una delicia de peras. Felicidad pura. 

I came back to London and Summer was waiting for me. We launched a new season of the ice cream maker with a pear delight. Pure happiness.

Son algunas de las nuevas bestias ahora en la tienda...

They are some of the new beast now in the shop...

Las cosas van a cambiar (como podrían no hacerlo?) para este bestiario, pero todavía no sé en qué dirección. No es cuestión de hacerme la misteriosa (de paso: cómo me molesta la gente que usa las redes sociales para generar misterio!) es que ni yo misma sé para dónde llevarán las aguas del destino a estas criaturas de arcilla. La bestia mayor de pronto tiene una vida social, un grupo de gente con quienes compartir, disfrutar, debatir, y las interminables horas de encierro en el laboratorio de bestias no parecen más algo tan deseable. No se van a extinguir, se van a transformar. Como se ha transformado mi vida londinense: definitivamente no está tan mal.

Things are going to change (how could they not?) for this bestiary, though I don’t yet know how. It’s not that I want to act mysterious (how it bothers me when people use social networks to create mystery!) but not even I know where the hand of destiny will take these clay creatures. This Big Beast suddenly has a social life of her own, a group of people with whom to share, enjoy debates with, and the endless hours locked up in the beast laboratory don’t look that appealing anymore. They won’t be wiped out, they’ll be transformed. Just as my London life has been transformed: it’s definitely not a bad thing.

Un festejo de cumple que incluyó inesperados mariachis y alguna danza inventada.

A birthday celebration that included unexpected mariachis and some made-up dancing.

Y también una serie de medidas gubernamentales que van desde la privatización del sistema de salud hasta la reducción de impuestos para los más ricos, pasando por una quita de subsidios a gente discapacitada y un empeoramiento de las condiciones para jubilarse. Adorable, no?

And also a battery of government measures going from health service privatisation to tax reduction for the rich, passing through cutting benefits for disabled people and worsening conditions for pensioners-to-be. Adorable, isn’t it?
